## Summary

UnionTerminal organizes many terminal sessions in one window: tiled layouts, Satellite mode (float any session into its own pinnable window, or collapse it to a small floating Beacon chip), sidebar status dots, inline file preview (DocView), clipboard screenshots with annotation (paste or drag a screenshot to drop its file path into the prompt for tools like Claude Code), hide/restore without killing shells, scroll-to-bottom when reviewing output, searchable Settings (clear scrollback sync, terminal scrollbar size), and optional anonymous usage sharing (off by default). It does not replace your shells or AI tools — it manages them.

## Pain points vs normal terminals

Q: Why not just use Windows Terminal or iTerm tabs?
A: Tabs hide blocked agents and long-running jobs. UnionTerminal tiles sessions in a grid, shows status dots (yellow = waiting for input), and lets you hide sessions without killing shells.

Q: How do I know which terminal needs my input?
A: Sidebar status dots: green = active output, yellow = waiting for input, gray = idle.

Q: Can I preview a file without leaving the terminal?
A: Click a file path in any session to preview in DocView when the file exists. Shift+click when the path cannot be resolved. Highlight + Shift+click when auto-detect misses. Ctrl+click (⌘ on Mac) opens in your default app. Ctrl+F searches in-document. URLs: click opens in browser; Alt+click copies. Shell integration (PowerShell, bash, zsh) tracks live cwd for relative paths.

Q: How do I send a screenshot to Claude Code or Cursor?
A: Clipboard rail (Ctrl+Shift+K) — capture, annotate, click or drag into the terminal that should receive it.

Q: Can I pop a terminal into its own floating window?
A: Yes — Satellite mode launches any session into a floating window with full CLI fidelity (nothing simplified). Pin it on top, it ghosts/fades when unfocused, shows live cwd and git branch, and docks back to the grid with Ctrl+Shift+D (⌘⇧D on Mac). Ctrl+Alt+S summons or hides all Satellites; up to five at once. Collapse a Satellite to a Beacon — a small pinned chip showing its live status light and session colour — then click it to expand back; Beacons survive sleep/wake and follow you to your primary screen when you unplug an external monitor. Works on Windows and macOS.

Q: Does my workspace survive quit, crash, or update?
A: Session names, groups, colors, and layout restore on relaunch. Auto-update is one click.
